would like to announce that Otakon 2021 will take place as scheduled from August 6-8 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Otakon is the first major convention event being held as D.C. reopens. It is fitting that Otakon paves the way for future large events.

History. Otakon 2020 was cancelled due to its venue, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, being converted to a field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients during the ongoing pandemic.

How much does it cost to go to Otakon?

Regular rate: $95 pre-registration, $100 at the door.

Welcome to Otakon! Otakon is held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in our nation’s capital of Washington, DC.

When did otakon move to DC?

In 2017, Otakon moved to our new home, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in our nation’s capital of Washington, DC. Truly “for fans, by fans”, Otakon is run all by volunteers under the non-profit organization Otakorp, Inc.

Is food allowed at Otakon?

They will not be searching for food or drinks (though please remember that the consumption of alcohol at Otakon is discouraged). A short list of prohibited items can be found on this page under “Weapons at Otakon”. Also, please remember that if it is illegal in DC, it is illegal at Otakon.

Are Otakon tickets refundable?

Membership in Otakorp is non-refundable and non-transferable. Only members of Otakorp, Inc. are eligible to attend Otakon. This means that you will not receive a refund if you are unable to attend Otakon.
