Vestrahorn is located on the south east coast of Iceland, near the town of Höfn. Coming from the Ring Road, drive east past Höfn and there will be an unmarked gravel road on the right after about 7km, just before the tunnel. Follow that road for about 5km and you will reach the breathtaking peaks of Vestrahorn.

Stokksnes is fairly easy to find. Following the main road A1 a few kilometers from Höfn, you’ll have to make a right turn into a gravel road. There’s a board with a sign for the location, just before the tunnel. After the turn you simply follow the gravel road until you get to an area with a small cafeteria.

There’s a small admission fee (~8£, cards accepted) which is totally worth it. Stunning mountains on the horizon, an azure ocean, black dunes topped with green grass, the colours are simply unbelievable. The water is generally very shallow which gives the impression your walking on the sea.
