What is Mechmech 2?
Mech 2 is the cornerstone program of the UBC Mechanical Engineering Department, and a revolutionary new way to think about undergraduate education. It goes far beyond classes and exams to include all areas of personal and professional development needed to become a successful engineer.
When does Mech 2 start at UBC?
Mech 2 classes begin one week before the official start of Term 1 at UBC. All activities in the first week are mandatory – missing the module means you are unable to pass Mech 220. Please note our early start date – for the 2021W session, classes start on August 30, 2021. Attendance during the first week of Mech 2 is mandatory.
What is it like to study at mech2?
It goes far beyond classes and exams to include all areas of personal and professional development needed to become a successful engineer. Rather than take six or seven concurrent courses per term, students in the Mech 2 program take four consecutive courses over the entire year.
What STT do I need for Mech 2?
Once you have been placed into Mech, all you need to register for is a Mech 2 STT (any of them will do; the only difference is some of the lab times). You will add your Technical Communication course after you take the written diagnostic at the beginning of Mech 2, to bring your registration to a total of 40 credits.
