What do I do if my geckos skin turns white?
If your enclosure just has a hot and cool hide, one hide can double as a moist hide. When your leopard gecko’s skin starts to turn white, you can place some damp paper towels (damp, not wet) to create a moist hide. Some leopard gecko owners place sphagnum moss in the hide for this purpose.
How do I know if my crested gecko has mites?
If your crested gecko has mites, you will notice tiny black, brown, or red dots barely larger than the head of a pin slowly moving or gathering on your gecko’s body. Mites prefer dark, warm, and/or occasionally moist areas such as the gecko’s mouth, eyes, vent, and armpits.
Why does my gecko keep scratching?
There are other reasons such as enclosure too warm, stress due to enclosure being too small or they’re just unhappy about something in the enclosure. If the enclosure is new, you may also see this behavior for the first 2-3 days. It’s just panic.

The most common health concern in regard to crested geckos is metabolic bone disease, which is caused by a severe calcium deficiency. It will present itself as tremors, a jutting lower jaw, or kinks and bowing in the gecko’s spine or tail.
Why is my gecko clawing at the glass?
Leopard geckos may glass surf because they are exploring their environment or because they’re bored, hungry, or cold. Leopard geckos may also glass surf in an attempt to get away from mites or other geckos in the enclosure that may be irritating them.
Do geckos know their owner?
We do not know for sure if the leopard gecko, or other reptiles, get attached to their owners. However, bonds can be formed between a leopard gecko and their owner by way of handling the animal, taking them out for enrichment activities outside their cage, and setting up a healthy habitat.
