How many wraps of Teflon tape should I use?
You always want to wrap seal tape around threaded pipe fitting in a clockwise direction. In most cases for a new joint you should apply only two or three wraps of tape. On older fitting where the threads may be damaged you may consider adding a few more wraps, but keep the number of warps to a minimum.
Do you need to let pipe thread sealant dry?
It is not supposed to dry. Pipe joint compound is only to be used on threaded joints, and if you still have a leak after applying the joint compound you simply did not tighten the joint enough.
How long does it take for Permatex thread sealant to dry?

Should you use Teflon tape and thread sealant together?
Go ahead and wrap Teflon tape around the male threads just like always. Then add pipe thread sealant as shown. The pipe thread sealant will fill any gaps caused by tape failures. It’s cheap insurance against a leak.
Can you put too much teflon tape?
Yes it’s possible, you only need two to three wraps then put a small amount of pipe dope around tape to better seal the fitting. On an aircraft it is DEFINITELY possible to use too much Teflon tape. Only use enough to get the job done correctly and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

How long does oatey great white pipe joint compound take to dry?

Does Permatex thread sealant go bad?
if permatex #12 dries out, you have to refresh it with U-232. then it is good for 68.2 years.
Is Teflon tape high temp?
The common Teflon high temperature tape can work normally in an environment of 260 degrees and can withstand an instantaneous high temperature of 300 degrees. Some customized Teflon high temperature tapes can work in a high temperature environment of 320 degrees.
