How do I use my Telstra WIFI modem?
Set up steps – Cable internet
- Plug the Telstra Cable Adaptor into a cable port. First, you’ll need to find the right cable port in your house.
- Plug the Telstra Cable Adaptor into a power outlet.
- Connect the Telstra Cable Adaptor to your Telstra Smart Modem™
- Plug your Telstra Smart Modem™ into the power outlet.
Do I have to use the Telstra Smart Modem?
To the best of my knowledge you can use any appropriate ADSL2 modem. But…., you’ll have to work out the settings. Again, to the best of my knowledge, Telstra’s ADSL system does not require a Telstra supplied modem unlike the Telstra Cable system, which definitely does.
Why is my Telstra WIFI modem not working?
Restart your modem: Remove the power cable from your modem for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait 1-2 minutes for the modem to settle and go ‘green’, now check to see if your devices are connecting. This is a ‘reboot’ and can often solve connection problems.

Re: NBN drops out every 30 minutes. It could also be due to a WiFi device on your network that does not support Protected Management Frames. If reset doesn’t fix problem try disabling Protected Management Frames for bot WiFi bands in the modem’s Advanced WiFi settings.
