How do I get a reservation at Haena State Park?
These reservations are available online and must be purchased in-advance of arriving to the park. Reservations available at – Note: There is very limited cell service along the road leading to the park. We highly suggest booking reservations before departing for the park.

To access this little beach from Lihu’e, take Kuhio Highway and head north (hwy 56 and 560). You will need about one hour to drive all the way to the north shore (40 miles/65 kilometers). At the very end of the road, you will reach a big parking lot with showers and toilets.

Kalalau Valley is part of the Na Pali Coast and there are no roads to it. The closest you can get to it by car is this overlook. The valley itself is two miles wide and one the widest on Kauai’s west side. To get here, take Highway 50 west from Hanapepe toward Waimea.
Can you hike NaPali Coast in one day?
If no permits are available, you can still enjoy the Kalalau Trail for a day hike (day-use reservations required). You can hike to Hanakāpīʻai beach (4-Mile round trip) or to Hanakāpīʻai Falls and back (8-Mile round trip). Permits are available up to a year in advance.
What is the Haena state park like?
It is a nice beach with a trail to a lookout and waterfall. This is a beautiful area. Suggest edits to improve what we show. We are visiting Kauai in August 2021 and have tried and tried to get a parking pass and entry pass combo on the Haena State Park reservation site.
Why are there new regulations for accessing hā’ena State Park?
This natural beauty and heritage is fragile, however, which is why new regulations are in place for accessing Hā‘ena State Park, to help protect some of Kaua‘i’s most precious resources from overuse. New restrictions began after Kūhiō Highway re-opened in June 2019.
