How do I change the start button on my Seadoo?
Unplug the old start button from the small plastic wiring harness and remove the single retaining screw using a screwdriver. Set the new starter button in place and insert the retaining screw and tighten it.

put positive lead of your voltmeter on the yellow wire, negative lead to the negative on the battery. Press the start button. If you read 12 volts or so everything is good from the button to the solenoid. do the same test with the negative from your voltmeter on the black wire to verify you have a good ground.

How do you test a Seadoo starter relay?
Put the engine in “drown mode” by holding down the throttle all the way (you can put a rubber band around it to hold it open), then press the start button. The voltage across the solenoid should be no more than 0.2 V. If you show more than 0.2 V going across that connection, then your solenoid is confirmed bad.
Can you bypass Dess system?
As far as getting around the DESS, you can’t. It is programmed into the CDI box and the DESS post connects direct to it.
