Can freshman at ODU live off campus?
Are freshmen required to live on campus? Old Dominion University does not have an on-campus residency requirement, so no students are required to live on campus.
How do I apply for housing at ODU?
Students will apply for housing by visiting the ODU Housing Portal. Within the application, you will be able to indicate your lifestyle preferences (bedtime, study hours, cleanliness, etc.), and building preferences.

Amenities. Amenities including front desk services, laundry, lounges, and kitchenettes are designed to make you comfortable while staying on campus.
Can freshmen have cars at ODU?
Freshman Residents are NOT allowed a car on campus, with few exceptions. Students who live in ODU On-Campus Housing are eligible to purchase a residential parking permit, with the exception of traditional Freshman Residents (unless a Freshman Parking Waiver has been approved).
Does ODU allow pets in dorms?
A pet is an animal kept for ordinary use and companionship unrelated to a disability. Students are not permitted to bring pets inside any on-campus residential building (e.g. residence halls, apartment communities, etc.).
