Can I get community service hours online?

Is there such thing as online community service?
Online volunteering or virtual volunteering means unpaid service that is given by a person via the Internet or other technology network, either via a computer or via a handheld device (smart phone, tablet, cell phone, PDA, etc.).
Can I pay money instead of doing community service?
It is up to the Judge that sentenced you. You cannot just pay for your community service hours without getting permission from the Court. They do not always grant it, and sometimes will let you buy a certain amount but not all of your hours.
Can I do community service on my own?
Community service is often organized through a local group, such as a place of worship, school, or non-profit organization, but you can also start your own community service projects. Many people participate in community service because they enjoy helping others and improving their community.
What can happen if you don’t do your community service?
Continuing to not perform community service could mean your probation officer files a Violation of Probation with the court. Contempt of court –a judge could find a noncompliant defendant in contempt of court for failure to complete community service. The defendant may face additional fines and jail time.

Can community service be done anywhere?
You may work inside or outside. You can ask to be placed at a project, but you do not have the right to choose where you will work. As much as possible, your community service will be organised so that it does not interfere with your work, education, religious or family commitments.
Do probation officers verify community service hours?
You must provide written verification of completed hours to the probation officer. The probation officer will supervise the participation in the community service program by approving the program (agency, location, frequency of participation, etc.).
