The 007 is a Double Check Valve (DCV), the 009 is a Reduced Pressure Zone assembly (RPZ). The 007 is a double check valve and the 009 is a reduced pressure. The reduced pressure is for more of a high hazard situation. If there is backflow on the 009 it will dump out of the bottom of the unit to a drain.

What do you think about the quality of the wattwatts?
Watts has a reputation for quality and performance. The only drawback with Watts is the price of replacement components. Very high price for very simple components. I opted for a whole new unit as I felt the component prices for simple O rings and simple injection molded plastic were way out of line.

What is the difference between a Watts model number 009m2 and U009?
A Watts representative informed us that the difference between model number 009M2 and U009 was the valves inside the unit therefore either would work. We purchased the 009M2 and the threads did not connect correctly and my husband tried to adjust it by removing the end caps which exacerbate the problem.
