What is the AF Cool program?
Air Force COOL is a pathway for enlisted DAF members to earn industry recognized professional certifications, licenses to enhance their active-duty work, and to prepare them as they transition to the civilian job market.
Who is eligible for AF cool?
The AF COOL Program covers active duty and guard/reservist enlisted members who are on Title 10 or Title 32 active orders only. For those members who are in the guard/reserves, we encourage them to preplan for their credentials if they know they are coming on active orders.
Can civilians use AF cool?
AF COOL can be used to: Get background information about civilian licensure and certification in general and specific information on individual credentials including eligibility requirements and resources to prepare for an exam.
Can reservist use AF cool?
Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members are eligible to utilize AF COOL as long as they are on U.S. Title 10 or 32 (502)F Active Orders. The member must complete all phases of the credential (i.e. Funding Request, Funding for Exam, Taking the Exam) prior to orders expiring.
Does af cool pay for training?
AF COOL does not pay for preparatory classes, boot camps or coursework. AF COOL will pay for the exam(s), up to $500 for books, admin/application fees, and recertification fees necessary for that one credential. Some exams may be very expensive while others are relatively inexpensive.
How much does air force pay tuition assistance?
The Air Force currently pays 100 percent of tuition, up to $250 per semester hour and $166 quarter hour ($4,500 annually), in off-duty courses with accredited schools who have signed the Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding in pursuit of approved degree programs.

How many times can I use af cool?
Although the AF COOL program has expanded to allow Air and Space professionals to obtain unlimited credentials and licenses with their $4,500 cap, eligible members may attain only one credential at a time per category, i.e., Primary AFSC/Leadership, at AF expense.
