The Labour Party is a political party in the United Kingdom that has been described as an alliance of social democrats, democratic socialists and trade unionists. The party was founded in 1900, having grown out of the trade union movement and socialist parties of the 19th century.
What was Ed Davey knighted for?
In 2001 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He was sworn in as a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom on 8 February 2012, giving him the honorific title “The Right Honourable” for life. Davey was knighted in the 2016 New Year Honours for ‘political and public service’.
