The Carlsbad Union School Board kept busy building schools. Jefferson Elementary was built in 1952, and Magnolia in 1957. With great fanfare, Carlsbad High School was constructed in 1958. Before it opened, high school students had attended Oceanside Carlsbad High School or schools in San Diego or Los Angeles.
