Which zoas are toxic?
These decorative ornamental corals are commonly called ‘button polyps’, ‘sun polyps’ or ‘zoas’. Species of Zoanthid coral (e.g. Palythoa species and Zoanthus species) can contain a highly toxic, naturally-occurring and potentially lethal substance known as Palytoxin.
What is the best food for Zoanthids?

Do zoas like high or low flow?
Zoas need different levels of flow IME. Some can’t take blasting and rastas and utter chaos are some of them. No problems growing zoas under low to medium indirect flow for me.
How fast do ZOAS grow?
Depends on the zoas I think. Most of mine grow at about a polyp every few weeks. However, I have a colony that is not invasive by nature but is growing about 1 polyp a day!
Are Pandora zoas toxic?
Some can contain a compound called palytoxin that is a very dangerous poison. Palytoxin is associated more with Palythoa than Zoanthus, but it is possible for zoas to have it. In 1961 researchers tracked down the fabled pool in Maui and found colonies of Palythoa toxica.
Are zoas aggressive?
Zoas stay fairly small in size (less than 1 inch) but the colony can easily grow and expand. Zoas are also the least aggressive when it comes to defensive abilities. They can quite frequently become damaged and even start losing heads when they fall victim to another coral’s sting or exposed to those toxins.

How do I make my zoas bigger?
Zoa addict Making polyps bigger has to do with lighting and placement. Get a par meter, in my tank at around 100-150 par everythin is bigger. But some like vivid rainbows like 300 par to be bigger. Bloodshots get bigger at 60-75 par.
