Moon Jellyfish are also known as moon jellies, saucer jellies, and common sea jellies. Jellyfish are made up of 95% water and have no blood or heart. Moon Jellyfish are able to survive in a variety of conditions, and can even thrive in dirty, polluted water that is low in oxygen.

In this species, a male will use his tentacles to grab a female’s tentacles; he will then drag her around for a while before pulling her in close to him. Next, he will produce and release a spermatophore (sperm packet), and use his tentacles to pass it to one of the female’s tentacles.

Guests may purchase water or use a bottle refilling station. Any food or drink you bring with you or purchase from machines must be consumed in designated areas. Re-entry: Unfortunately, we won’t be able to let people back into Shedd once they exit the building.
