Does CD Baby collect royalties?
CD Baby Pro Publishing Administration collects the publisher’s share of performance and mechanical royalties for compositions on behalf of songwriters. We also collect the label portion of any unclaimed* non-interactive digital performance royalties for sound recordings from SoundExchange.
What royalties does CD Baby Standard collect?
They keep a 4.5% cut for administrative costs and pay the remainder as follows: 45% to the featured artist. 5% to the non-Featured artists (backing musicians) 50% to copyright owner (typically the record label)
Do I need Ascap if I have CD Baby?
When you sign up for CD Baby Pro Publishing Administration, we will: Affiliate you as a songwriter with a Performing Rights Organization (P.R.O.) in the US (ASCAP, BMI) and Canada (SOCAN); administer your existing P.R.O. affiliation; or guide you to your country’s P.R.O.
Is CD Baby Pro worth?
If your music gets a lot of traffic, CD Baby Pro Publishing could be worth the extra cost. CD Baby Standard leaves money on the table that you can’t collect, unless you have a publisher or publishing administrator.
Does SoundExchange take a percentage?
Under the law, 45 percent of performance royalties are paid directly to the featured artists on a recording, and 5 percent are paid to a fund for non-featured artists.
Does CD Baby own my music?
The artist retains 100% of the legal rights to their music, and CD Baby lets artists obtain payouts from streams, downloads, sales, sync licensing, YouTube Music monetization, publishing royalties, and more.
Is CD Baby a one time payment?
We charge a ONE-TIME fee per release with NO annual fees.
Does CD Baby register you with BMI?
When you sign up for CD Baby Pro Publishing Administration, we will: in the US (ASCAP, BMI) and Canada (SOCAN); administer your existing P.R.O. affiliation; or guide you to your country’s P.R.O. membership.
Is CD Baby your publisher?
CD Baby is not like a traditional publisher; we’re closer to what folks in the biz call an ‘administrator. ‘ In our role of a publishing administrator, we register songs with Performing Rights Organizations and collect publishing royalties on your behalf.
