Are Welsummer Roosters friendly?
They are intelligent birds, also calm, friendly, and docile. My rooster will eat from my hand and I have never had any territorial problems with him. Despite the fact that they are sturdy birds, they are not overly pushy with other breeds. I would place them somewhere between the middle and top of the pecking order.
Are Welsummer hens aggressive?

How big do Welsummer hens get?
Although they are considered a light breed the Welsummer actually weighs about the same as many heavy breeds. The roosters weigh in around 7-8lb. Hens will weigh 5-6lb. The bantam variety is 34oz for the males and 30oz for the females.
At what age do Welsummers start laying?
The general rule of thumb is that chickens will start laying around 6 months old (22-28 weeks) is the norm, but there are some precocious breeds that start earlier. Even if your chickens start laying in the normal range that still leaves 1-2 months of uncertainty, *le sigh*.
