We used to swim in this area nearly every weekend as children. There are undercurrents in the mill pond itself and there is sometimes a whirlpool in a particular spot in the mill pond. However, other stretches of the river (especially as you head towards Hemingford Grey) are shallow and good for paddling/swimming.
